Brightening shots on Photoshop

Before adding text I decided that my image was too dark and that i wanted it to be slightly lighter. 

To do this i first of all went to Image then Adjustments before selecting brightness and contrast.

I then adjusted the brightness so that the protagonist was still visible but now had more light behind her this gave me a higher quality image for my final poster.
